Some CMU community members have put together a petition to CMU against hosting the National AI and Energy Summit, in protest of Trump's attendance and the MAGA GOP's general anti-academia and anti-science platform.

Indivisible Pittsburgh is kicking off “Good Trouble Week: Pittsburgh,” with “ Good Trouble in the Streets“ on Tuesday, July 15th with a rally and march in Oakland to say no to tech billionaires running universities and ending civil rights. The timing of this protest is due to Trump visiting CMU on the same day for a summit on AI and energy.
Join in marching against:
- dangerous de-regulation of AI and energy production
- executive overreach suppressing academic freedom and stifling scientific progress
- the Trump administration's attacks against immigrants and temporary foreign residents such as refugees, researchers, and students
- Trump visiting CMU campus
- degradation of our democracy through Trumpism and its weaponization of misinformation and disinformation
- the constitutional crises triggered by the Trump administration's executive overreach, SCOTUS's endorsement, and congressional inaction all steering the US towards a collapse into authoritarian autocracy
